The school year is ending...

By Nuria Cervera

Anther school year is coming to an end and with it a briefcase full of good memories.

This year we have enjoyed interesting powerpoint presentations. Through them we have travelled to England, London, Finland, Thailand, different places in Spain. We have learned about our environment, food, culture, Fallas and other traditions and so many more things.

We have also enjoyed the visit of Erasmus+ students from Germany and England, who have been doing Internships in our school, and also the visit of a group of Finnish teachers who did some job-shadowing with us. To all of them we explained about our culture, but also learned about theirs.

We have recorded videos inroducing ourselves and our class; we have also started this Blog where we will be sharing our progress with other students of English; and we have begun an ePal project with some Fiinish students of English, where we will be exchanging emails, letters, photos and any other thing of our and their country and culture.

One of our classmates, Juan, has become a grandfather, and we have also enjoyed almuerzos in the school canteen. And we have laughed a lot...

As the teacher of this 1B1 group, I can only feel extremely proud of everybody.

I landed in EOI Llíria three years ago and now, looking back, it has been one of the best decisions I have made in my life.

My first group in Llíria was a 1A2 level. It made a big difference from the more advanced levels I had been teaching in previous years in another EOI.
Most of the students in that 1A2 group were real beginners, people who had never learned English before, but full of energy, with a strong will and very eager to learn and be able to start communicating in this too often ungrateful language.

Some of the students in that group are still with me after three years. And new ones incorporated last year and some more this year. To me they are now part of a big family.

I can't describe well enough how hard most of them have worked, how many hours they have studied, what a big effort they have made, how much time they have had to steal from their families, friends or from relaxing on the sofa or in a café.

I only have praise and recognition towards each one of my students.

I wish and I hope all teachers in the world can be as lucky as I have been with my students.

Thank you guys!!!
